@nitrrogen__ @chud14_3 Ukrainians were overrepresented in the Red Army largely due to the fact that most of Ukraine was on the frontlines between 1941 and 1944, while a comparatively much smaller portion of Russia was occupied/fought over.

Ukrainians were also overrepresented among collaborators.

@chud14_3 Ukranian "nationalists" fought for an independant socialist people's republic only as a counter-revolutionary menshivik movement, and fought against the whites too. The Ukranian identity did NOT exist before 1917.

@chud14_3 Nope, ethnic SLAVIC Ukranians were overrepresented in the Politburo and CPSU, same with Balts. Lenin built his support base in the Russian imperial periphere because the ethnic Russians didn't support it as much due to Stolypins reforms.
